The McCarthy’s

It warms my heart when I get the opportunity to photograph a family multiple times. Growing up in a small town it seems that many of us have remained friends, and in contact throughout the years. So when Melissa and Patrick welcomed Miss Kennedy into this world I was honored to take their first holiday family photos!

It is amazing how fast little ones grow up! Before we know it they are crawling, walking, talking, and turning ONE! When Melissa set up Kennedy’s first birthday photoshoot I LOVED that they wanted to do the shoot where they got married. It’s details like that, that we will never forget! I can’t believe how fast Miss Kennedy is growing up, and I am honored to be able to capture the McCarthy’s Milestones!

When I saw Kennedy’s outfit I died! When Melissa was styling the shoot it was a no brainer to celebrate their patriotism.Β Kennedy was born on the Fourth of July so it was absolutely perfect. But not only that, this family is full of service men and women.

Melissa’s father and mother both worked for the police force, her father a retired lieutenant, and mother swat team hostage negotiator (can you say badass?). I think when she fell in love with a selfless civil servant it made perfect sense. Patrick is a Captain with the Fremont Fire department.

The more I learn about this little family the more I love them. In life I think it is really important to leave this Earth better than when you arrived, so when Kennedy’s Great Grandfather, a military veteran, recently passed away I know his legacy will live on through his “Little Miss Lady Liberty”. Life is cyclical isn’t it? What a blessing for Kennedy to be surrounded by such loving and selfless people. And what a blessing to me, to be trusted with such a special moment. To be welcomed into their family story, and have the opportunity to document their history for generations to come!

Thank you McCarthy’s! For your service, for your business, and for your friendship!

X O X O,

Ashley
